On the 17th June 2011, the Metropolitan Borough of Bury was awarded fair trade status by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Bury's status as a Fairtrade Borough is because of the individuals, community organisations, businesses, schools, universities, colleges, faith groups, Councils and Bury-wide bodies that have made a public commitment to supporting and using products with the FAIRTRADE Mark. So thank you to everyone who has made Fairtrade more visible and available across Bury.
